Dinky was very food-motivated – hardly surprising after being dumped in the fields as a young, growing cat, completely unused to fending for himself.

Luckily for Dinky, Mystery took pity on him and showed him the way to the drive where food and water were always available. Maybe it was a kind deed on Mystery’s part, or maybe Dinky’s incessant yowling just wore her down – either way, Dinky realised that the drive was the place to be.

Despite his obvious pedigree, Dinky was not a fussy eater. He did not demand a special diet, and never turned food down; he was happy with regular tinned food, plus the occasional pate portion (veal and carrots was his favourite).

The only special concession was that, as Dinky had a very pointed face, he could eat more easily (and keep a clean face) if the food was piled up in the middle of the dish, so often a human would be in attendance, ready to pile the food up with a spoon so Dinky could take it neatly from the top. He had certainly trained the humans well.

Maybe we can follow Dinky’s thoughts through these photos…

This is a bit awkward, but it tastes really good.

Yes please, I’ll have some more…

…that’s perfect, thank you.

I’ll let you know when I need to you pile the food up again, human – just wait there…

…why are you laughing? You could have told me I’d got some food stuck to my mouth.
