Our October snapshot for Year 10 shows a selection of cats (none of which were The Cat’s own family members) in the garden, drive and front path.
October was a time for eating well, enjoying whatever warmth there was left in the sun, and putting down some insulation against the colder months which were to come.
Any later kittens would be weaned by now, and (unless they were sickly, like Lychee) making their own independent visits to the feeding bowls.
Clover, Cracker’s son, in the garden. Cracker had adopted Souci, The Cat’s granddaughter, when Souci’s mother Flora became tired of mothering. Clover was a member of the Garden Family and grew up in and around the garden with his extended family.

Gypsy and Lychee in the garden. Gypsy was a Visiting Cat, and Lychee had been brought to the garden by her mother, She-ba, as Lychee was a very ill kitten and needed special care.

She-ba and her daughter Mini (sister to Lychee) in the front path. You can see the difference in size between Lychee and Mini, an indicator of how unwell Lychee was at that time.

Madam Kiwi asleep on the wall in the front path. From that wall, the cats could look out over the fields and also see what was happening in the drive down below.

Kiwi asleep on the wall in the front path.Cracker asleep on the wall between the drive and the fields. The raised section where Cracker was lying was from where the cats could jump up onto the high wall under the olive tree before clambering down the olive tree into the garden. Yes, a really convenient place to lie!

Twilight’s son Caramel in the drive. Caramel was one of the Sundowners, three male kittens born to Twilight in the fields, His brother Buttermilk and Syllabub also visited regularly for food and water.

The header photo shows Tumbleweed, the son of Storm, in the garden.
