October of Year 9 and the Garden Family consisted mostly of The Cat’s family, plus some of Visitor Cat’s offspring. Twilight’s family had not yet made their way into the garden, preferring to spend their time in the drive.
Whitefur, Greyfur and Blackfur were around 18 months old now and living independent lives, returning to the garden for food and then disappearing off into the fields.
The first photo shows Whitefur, making the most of the shade under the clothes horse on the terrace.

Greyfur was the biggest of the three siblings, but surprisingly graceful taking into account his size. Here he is pictured napping in his favourite position.

Blackfur, unlike his brother and sister, was reluctant to make his home on the opposite side of the road, having learnt his lesson after being hit by a car the previous year. Here he was fast asleep on the water tank under the olive tree.

They had been joined in the spring of that year by two younger siblings, Flora and Furrileesa who were The Cat’s final litter. Sadly, Furrileesa had passed away in the summer, leaving Flora as the youngest member of The Cat’s family.

These photos are a snapshot of The Cat’s family in October of that year. It seemed that October was a time of napping, building up strength after a long, hot summer and laying down reserves for the colder winter ahead.
