After spending the first two weeks of their lives in the garden followed by two weeks on the first floor terrace, The Cat’s and Sprocket’s kittens had explored the feeding station and pods, the garden, the front drive (accessed by the gate as they were still too small to negotiate the olive tree), the garden wall, and our neighbours’ aviary roof. They now had quite a comprehensive picture of the garden and its environs, and these photos show them in the last few places which they discovered.

The terrace, where the kittens had spent a fortnight when they were very young. Little Bang was one of the first to come to the terrace on his own, followed by Prince. They used it as a tussling ground, rolling around and practising their fighting skills.

Big Bang was one of the first kittens to climb up the trunk of the olive tree, and she took a liking to lying on the top of the high wall, looking down over the drive, in the shade of the olive tree.

Snopake went in the opposite direction to everyone else, following in the pawprints of The Cat and Sprocket who used to escape from family duties to the neighbouring terrace. It was not an obvious place to find, accessed over the aviary roof and by walking carefully along a horizontal drainpipe, but somehow Snopake managed it.

Little Bang lying on the step on the veranda. This area stayed cooler in the summer and some of the cats and kittens favoured lying on steps as there was inevitably a draught under the gate.

And, having conquered the olive tree, high wall and drive, Prince discovered the field, later going over the road to the fields opposite as well.
