September 2nd is one of those days where, irrespective of the year, there seem to be plentiful photos. Maybe the cats could sense autumn in the air, a magical cooling of the summer heat, and the dawn of a new season.

These photos are all from The Cat’s family photo album, showing her family on 2nd September in various years.

Firstly, an early photo of The Cat (before she was friendly), was wondering how she ended up with a son with such a big head.

Next, hide-and-seek in the garden for The Cat’s daughters, Fickle and Drip. This old tin was Fickle’s favourite plaything and she spent a lot of time curling herself up inside it and surprising her siblings as they came past.

Despite being six months old, Pedal and Sprocket never gave up hope of getting a sneaky feed. The Cat never actively discouraged them from trying; if she was fed up with them, she would simply stand up and walk away.

The Cat’s grand-daughter Snopake on the day she discovered our neighbour’s terrace where The Cat and Sprocket disappeared to for their afternoon siesta. To get to this terrace, Snopake had to pick her way across the wire top of the aviary and then negotiate a horizontal drainpipe, walking along it tightrope-style, to reach the terrace. And to think The Cat and Sprocket had thought they could escape their brood!

Family siesta on our terrace for The Cat with Whitefur, Greyfur and Blackfur. As the matriarch, The Cat had first choice of napping spots, cleverly choosing the coolest.
