Only one cat had three different names, and that cat was Mr Grey, who became The Evil Grey and later on, Sunday.
His story has been told – how he fought Ana for control of the garden, how he preferred The Cat’s garden to his own home nearby, how he chased Dinky out of the garden, how he was rehomed to another village and found his way back, how he disappeared for years and returned as ‘Sunday’ – but the one common thread which binds these tales together (and what kept bringing Mr Grey back to the garden) was his love for The Cat.
These six photos document the life of this single-minded alpha-male and his quest.
Let’s start at the beginning. Mr Grey, the early days – gazing through the window between the drive and the garden, planning to make the garden and The Cat his own.

The Evil Grey in the garden – renamed because of his attacks on Ana. With Ana gone, he could relax. The garden and The Cat were his, or so he thought.

The wilderness years. With the appearance of Saturday and the unwelcome realisation that The Cat’s favourite colour was orange, The Evil Grey disappeared from sight for some considerable time, only appearing occasionally in the neighbouring fields.

And then he returned. Unrecognised and given a new name, Sunday, it was obvious that the garden was familiar to him, that he was no stranger. But was his beloved still in residence?

Yes! There she was. Years had passed and they were both showing their age, yet the flame still burnt.

Sunday (as he now was) could spend his latter days near his beloved. His plan had worked. He was happy.
