The Cat, Ana and Pea Cat were the first cats we met when we arrived. There are not many photos of Pea Cat as he moved on after losing his battle for dominance with his brother. But Ana was around for over four years, and there are quite a few photos of him.

So, from the photo album of Ana Half-Tail, Warrior Cat, King of the Culvert, here are six photos which Ana would probably have preferred that no-one saw.

First, the cooling-off-the-nether-regions-on-a-hot-day photo. Ana and his mother would take their siesta on the windowsill in the drive. It was in the shade of the olive tree, and the glass was cool, so there was method in Ana’s madness.

Newsflash!! Alpha-male spotted kitten-sitting his little brother and sisters!! Ana was really good with kittens, and his mother trusted him to kitten-sit Pedal, Ratchet and Sprocket while she was out in the fields enjoying some peace and quiet.

Oh Ana, you didn’t allow yourself to be spoon-fed, did you? A big, bold male like you? Well, yes, actually, Ana did. And he was the only cat who understood that there was a back to every spoon and that also needed to be licked. So, all in all, not such an awful thing to be spotted doing.

Ana with his best pleading-eyes expression, rapidly losing the battle with his mother for the plant-trough. ‘Do something, can’t you?’ Well, no, Ana, actually we can’t. Your mother is your mother and, in any case, just look at her expression. She wasn’t giving in.

Obviously the top of a decorative limestone arch about 5 metres from the ground was the best place to have a really good scratch. And he never fell off!

When your mother decides to use you as a pillow, you might as well give in and just hope fervently that no one ever finds out.

Sorry, Ana, but they were too good not to share.
