Sometimes the Garden Family received gifts from human friends abroad; balls with bells were a firm favourite, especially if they were made from felt. But for young Blackfur who was getting his strength back after a dreadful abscess, nothing compared to the one and only Stinky Fish (so named because he dropped it on Pooh Corner where the cats made their toilet, and a human had to wash it for him).
