The Cat’s Garden was rapidly turning into a safe haven for young cats. These days, Whitefur, Greyfur and Blackfur were independent young adults although they returned to eat, usually daily but not always. Blackfur remained wary of the road since his accident and stayed in the fields on his own side of the road, although Whitefur and Greyfur seemed drawn to the farming land opposite and headed off in that direction most days, albeit not ostensibly together.

Flora was growing up, shadowing her mother, and learning the ways of the garden and the neighbourhood. As Whitefur chose not to spend much time in the garden, it was Flora who was learning the tips of matriarchal rule in The Cat’s Garden from The Cat herself.

Tiger and Stardust still spent some time in the garden, their paths occasionally crossing with their mothers, Visitor and Kiwi, at the food bowls and out and about in the fields. The boys still returned to eat, but not necessarily every day. They were obviously finding food elsewhere and never looked thin or hungry when they returned.

Visitor’s twin daughters still Cheese and Cracker used the garden as their base although their brother T roamed the neighbourhood, returning for food and water if need be.

Funnily, T seemed to head off in the direction of the garden from which we suspect his mother initially came – something was obviously drawing him back there.

And The Cat went about her daily business – it was still very much her garden and the younger members of the Garden Family deferred to her at all times.
