With Lightning gone, Dinky took to spending more time with Quink and Longtail (aka The Three Mouseketeers), adventuring in the fields.

Longtail was a worldly-wise, up-and-coming alpha-male, doing well in the neighbourhood and standing up for himself without engaging in serious confrontation. Dinky was a highly intelligent cat with no aspirations to be an alpha-male, so they made a good team along with Quink, who was a sassy, young female feral cat.
Dinky was an affectionate cat so it wasn’t a surprise to discover that he had found his first girlfriend in tuxedo girl Quink. They had a strong bond, Dinky every inch the gentleman, sitting proudly next to Quink on the wall overlooking the fields.

Sadly, their union was short-lived as Quink became gravely ill and passed away in the fields. Dinky grieved for her, sitting on the wall where they had spent time together, staring mournfully into the distance.
It was now that The Cat, despite her initial aversion to Dinky, decided to accept him as a member of The Garden Family, and they started to spend time together, patrolling the garden walls or napping together on one of the water tanks. They were unlikely companions, but somehow it worked for them.
