Dinky had settled in well. The Cat felt she had made her point on the day she chased him to the top of the olive tree where he hung on precariously in gale force winds while she sat below. Whatever test it was, he had passed.

Dinky was a sociable cat; he enjoyed human company and had so much energy. What he really needed was a companion. And who had arrived in the garden a few weeks ago? Lightning.

Lightning also needed a companion – a tussle-buddy to play with, and a snuggle-buddy to nap with; a feline best friend who would take the part of the family he once had.

As for Dinky, he was reliving his kitten days. Sadly, as a ‘trophy’ cat, he had probably been separated from his mother and siblings at a young age to go to his ‘forever’ home before being dumped a few months later. Lightning had also been separated from his family at a young age but for very different reasons. It was an odd pairing, but it was perfect.

They needed each other, and they made each other’s life better.
