Mr Grey was one of the first cats to be a regular visitor to the garden; he was a neighbourhood alpha-male and a handsome chap. Obviously he was not impervious to the charms of The Cat – who could be? And for her part, she seemed unusually taken with him, especially considering the fact that he was grey, and therefore Not Orange.

As Ana was absent for days at a time when he was on a mission, Mr Grey was more than happy to keep The Cat company, although his intentions were potentially less than platonic and he harboured a desire to take over the garden from Ana and become The Cat’s companion. The Cat seemed happy with the arrangement – and definitely a lot happier than Ana.

As the weeks passed, Mr Grey became more attached to The Cat and more aggressive towards Ana. Having started off sitting on the windowsill in the drive gazing longingly through the glass at The Cat in her garden, he took up residence in the garden where he would lie in wait for Ana on his return from the fields.

Tempers ran high, claws and fangs were deployed more regularly, and it wasn’t long before Mr Grey became known as The Evil Grey.
